Grapeseed vs. Argan
I’ve been bouncing back and forth between oils that I’d use on my scalp versus the shaft of my hairs.
I’ve also been a ‘why not both’ type odd person my whole life, but I still wanna weigh out my pros and cons. I got a couple little facts about each oil if you want to discover some of their properties, but all in all, for kinky, oily hair, they’re amazing.
It can depend on the weather
it can depend on my mood
it can certainly depend on the price tag (kidding; us naturals ball out right?)
but what oil you decide to use highly affects how well maintained your styles would be, let alone the structural integrity of your mane.
Incorporating oil into my conditioning routine gives the product a slurry consistency, but still moisturizing.
Let’s dig in…
Grapeseed, literally coming from the seeds of grapes.
Has that high fat content with its own moisturizing properties, and is honestly my go-to when avocado oil is a lil too top shelf for that month. Starting from root to tip, I use it as my one stop shop sealant after douse my hair in the shower.
This oil is top two and never number two, and I mean it. Twist outs and braid outs tend to have fewer fly aways and lay down easier than styles without. And honestly does the same thing grease does to your scalp.
(Yuhhhh! Get intew eeeeeet!)
They can range by price, and depending on where you grocery shop you could be in for a heavy receipt. I’d buy it in a bulk container rather than something smaller which would cost you on an average of $3 in the hair care section. A bottle with 10x the amount averages about $6 in the grocery aisle. Go grocery with your oils to cut out all the preservatives most hair care products would need. (If you could digest it, it should be beneficial to your exterior as well right?)
Argan, honing from Morocco.
can be found in basically any store and obviously has made its own name for itself, so no shade here. But on my scalp is a no go for me, hair strands only dawg. Help keep them ends from splitting and you might be able to get that lower back length hair quicker. The smell of the oil isn’t unpleasant so it’s not something you could be ashamed of being generous with. I just use it sparingly so I won’t have to go out and get more next month. But to each their own 💆🏾♂️
Test em out. Protect your strands. Spare your wallet
