Six ways to benefit your hair…. naturally.

Let’s just start with the benefits. Theres no real reason why you would need to define where your hair ends, what style it doesn’t do, or how uneven your parts are, in its current state. You just need the tips and facts that work for YOUR hair and your hair alone. Luckily, hair is constructed of some simple stuff: keratin here, a follicle here and a shaft that you could wish was 25 inches long. So other than that, there’s nothing really extraordinary about it. It’s hair.

So lets dive in to some quick notes on haircare :

Oils, Creams and Butters, Oh sh*t

DO NOT TRY EVERYTHING. God I can’t make Caps large enough. Point being, everything on the shelf isn’t FOR you. Can you get it? sureeeeee. But you need to know what your hair will agree with if nothing else, otherwise they’re useless liquids.

Giving your hair it’s daily allowance of routine moisture.

I typically don’t rinse my hair everyday. Im human. But your hair needs water to survive just like you do. So keep an open mind and bathroom door when you notice your hair getting closer to the crunchy side, maybe its time to go for a dip or hop in the steamer.

Let h(er/im) sit pretty

When your hair decides to be obedient and your styles turn out the way you want and expect. LEAVE IT ALONE. fidgeting with your hair opens up the door for breakage and even ruining your style. So when it looks pretty; let it sit pretty.

If your hair feels like a job in itself; break them jokers into bite sized pieces.

Learning how to part your hair is a LIFE SAVER if you can’t complete a full head in one go. (Don’t worry, I can’t either and I’m years into my journey) Try it in halves. are halves a no-go? quarters work too. This way you give yourself breathing room in case you need to multitask, or to even just take a break. Its work, true work.

Learn a go-to style

Set yourself up for success by having a go-to style. Doesn’t matter if its an up-do, cotton tail, a pony, or even a beanie. Reason being, having a go-to style keeps you from being in the mirror like

“ what can I do to this? “ “I can’t go out like this”

“Don’t experiment with your standard; find your standard and experiment afterwards.” The longer your hair becomes, the more versatile you can be with your experimentations, maybe chunky twist under a beanie are your thing. Are you good at dookie braids? All afros look amazing so don’t fret if you can’t “experiment” yet.

Scalp Substances

Some days products aren’t needed, why? because you make your own in your sleep.

Confused?

Your scalp creates this product called sebum which is basically an oil that coats your hair and strengthens it from the outside in. How you use it is up to you. Giving yourself a nice scalp massage for 5-10 minutes is plenty to allow the sebum to reach your shafts and get your food flow circulation (especially if you’re a ponytail or bun person)
