Jambo’s Barbeque Shack
If you don’t know, Jambo means Hello in Swahili, but I’m not just talking talking salutations here. I’m out looking for some Texan Texan bbq. And for a native, you’d think it shouldn’t be that hard- although it’s plentiful, finding an exact flavor while also surprising yourself is an extreme sport in itself. You’d want to try something new, but want to keep it relative to the things you know and experienced. Stick to the rivers and lakes huh?
But I’m rolling around looking for some iconic smoked meats in Arlington, and like I say all the time. I pass by it on multiple occasions, yet never went in. But this time. I have a friend and I want to show him around my town.
soooo we slide by this joint and while the parking may be minimal, the portions are not… whatsoever.
I’m on the lite side. I can eat hefty, but that’s not what I’m trying to do at the moment. ( I know. Why pull up to a bbq shack? ), because I was in “Impress him” mode 😭. The smells fill your nostrils while you gaze at this huge ass menu. Now…. I love options, but it’s difficult for me to make a decision in most cases. Food is seldom the case, but look at today. I stare for what feels like forever and select some sliced beef, this joint called cowboy corn, and Mac-n-cheese, white cheddar that is. 🤤 and for what it’s worth- it HIT. The Cowboy corn is something I’d put on par with Eloté
and my fav person matched my energy and then some. The ribs, the bologna, the beef, the chicken 😖 I was lowkey jealous looking at my plate. Needless to say he enjoyed the bites, he had a flight to catch and was NOT gonna finish that helping… not in one sitting; Texas don’t play 😤
but anyways, check the place out when you come across a dub. They’re so worth the trip and the smells 🤤 are outta this world. Get the cowboy corn and Mac and thank me later.
