Dry vs. Wet Styling

I’ve been stranded plenty places without even a sink to turn on.. now imagine you wanting to switch up your look in the next hour and gettin’ wet isn’t an option……. So bite the pillow; we’re going in dry.

Soooo were gonna focus on dry styling on this bit. Buns, Jewelry pieces, and braids. I couldn’t name a better holy trinity for haircare that didn’t include water. To make the long story short; I had to flip the script and change my look in between jobs in the same day, and as you can expect…. no sink or shower and no 2 hours spare to run home.

So what are you to do? I’ve been outside with my blowout in the wind for at least 6-7 hours. So i’m kind of channeling lost puppy at the moment and gotta evolve into some type of presentable human being in what feels like a flash. So lets get to talking bout dry styling.

What I typically mean by dry styling isn’t just WITHOUT water, you have no styling agents such as conditioner or a spritz even. Majority of your action is SLOW FINGER MANIPULATION. We obvi can’t just speed thru the process hastily because we know we’re unprepared, but don’t let that deter you from doing a A+ job on your scalp.

Don’t start heavy because that’s waaaay too much risk, hence why I opt in for the bun. Give your hair a good stretch and choose a direction for your bun to point and that can maneuver at least 50% of your hair out of the way, saving them from damage, while you work on the other sections of your hair.

My go-to dry styling technique HAS to be braids; if you do two strand twists as your dry style they might have a tendency to unravel soon as you finish. BUT BRAIDS?! Them mugs lock in place for the whoooole day and depending on length- you could be finished in less than 30 or even 15 if you fully focus on 2 braids.
